Relationship Scientist and PhD Candidate
About
My name is Giulia (Julia with a G) and I'm a relationship scientist and Post-Doctoral Fellow at the department of Medical Psychology at Amsterdam University Medical Centers. As a social psychologist, I study how people manage challenging feelings and experiences in their romantic relationships and am generally curious about the science and history of love. In March 2020 I launched an international research study called "Love in the Time of Covid".
My Research
Ambivalence in Romantic Relationships
People often experience positive feelings towards their partner and like the person that they are with. However, relationships can be difficult and challenging, bringing people to also experience negative feelings towards their significant other. How do people manage these mixed and conflicting feelings? How common are they? When do they arise?
Love in the Time of COVID
An international research study of the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on how we connect, relate and cope during this difficult time. This project was launched in March 2020 and data collection is ongoing. More information can be found on the project's website.
